Highly complex refurbishment project spanning an entire building in central London.
This project involved the refurbishment of an entire building in central London for a leading UK bank. The completed building was set to provide over 1,700 workstations across 10 floors along with a wide range of additional work and recreation spaces.
As the building was to become the bank’s headquarters, building resilience was critical. The project therefore included four roof-mounted standby generators providing back-up support to the building, with UPS back-up to critical comms rooms and allocated traders’ floors.
The refurbishment saw the building transformed to become significantly more energy efficient – we maintained our client’s sustainability agenda by introducing air source heat pumps, and installing a grey water harvesting system and LED lighting throughout.
This project presented a number of challenges, the most significant being the delivery to a fixed handover date. Due to the extremely tight plant space on the roof, we developed a detailed design for these areas, collaborating closely with the contractor and liaising with their preferred plant manufacturers to provide a bespoke design solution.
